Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Within the scope of its social responsibility policy, and in line with what has happened during the festive season in recent years, BCI is delivering hampers and gifts to children in the paediatric wards of provincial and district hospitals in the country. The action involved the participation of hundreds of BCI employees, and has benefited around a thousand children.<\/p>\n

The donation of baskets containing basic food products and toys, particularly in the paediatric wards of the health units in the provinces of Gaza, Inhambane, Sofala, Manica, Tete, Zambezia, Nampula, Niassa and Cabo Delgado, brought joy to hospitalised children and their mothers, most of whom live in vulnerable situations.<\/p>\n

Chief Executive Officer Francisco Costa explained that the initiative is part of the bank\u2019s social responsibility programme, which has as one of its main focuses the development of activities that contribute to the economic and social progress of communities where BCI operates.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor us at BCI, it is very gratifying to see that our relationship with hospital paediatrics is renewed annually,\u201d Costa said. \u201cI and members of the administration travel to almost all provincial hospitals, offering, together with volunteer colleagues, souvenirs, a little warmth, a smile and a hug for the children.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are aware that these simple contributions will not overcome all the difficulties in hospitals, but we believe in it as a gesture of affection and solidarity towards those in need, especially at this time of year,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Faithful to its commitment, BCI has in recent years extended a supportive embrace and developed a set of prevention and mitigation actions in tandem with public and private institutions, including health services.<\/p>\n
