Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Galp Foundation recently (08-12), signed a partnership protocol with ONGD Helpo to finance the implementation of photovoltaic systems in three School Progression Incentive Centres, as well as in a secondary school in Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to create an enabling environment for educational progress, with special emphasis on completing secondary education for internally displaced youth in the district of Metuge, Cabo Delgado. The project is expected to have a transformative impact on the lives of more than 4,700 young people and adults, half of whom are girls and women.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe recognize education as one of the fundamental pillars for growth and development, and therefore seek to be deeply engaged with communities on issues we consider crucial to progress,\u201d said Galp\u2019s Financial Administrator, Maria Joa\u0303o Carioca Rodrigues, at the protocol signing ceremony.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe that solidarity, equality and the future are built through constant action that brings concrete benefits to the lives of real people, helping to build a future where education, gender equality and sustainable development are not just concepts, but a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur association, in collaboration with the Galp Foundation, aims to build bridges towards a more promising future, where education and sustainable development are sources of change,\u201d declared Ine\u0302s Faustino, local manager of ONGD Helpo. \u201cWe make an unwavering commitment to building a more just and equitable world.\u201d<\/p>\n

Among the main initiatives taking place in communities such as Natoa, in the province of Nampula, are the construction of classrooms and a school library, the provision of snacks to students, the delivery of school materials and bicycles for those who live further away from school, as well as promoting parental involvement by holding health education sessions that address key topics on nutrition and hygiene.<\/p>\n

The initiatives developed between Galp and Helpo over the last five years have already reached 240,000 people, 130,000 through humanitarian emergency response.<\/p>\n
