Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Renamo\u2019s candidate for mayor of the city of Maputo in the local elections, Vena\u0302ncio Mondlane, has now announced his candidacy for the presidency of his party.<\/p>\n

The announcement was made in the city of Nacala-Porto, Nampula province \u2013 the country\u2019s largest electoral constituency,<\/p>\n

Announcing his intention, which will play out at the party\u2019s next congress, Mondlane began by extolling the late leader of the \u2018partridge party\u2019, Afonso Dhlakama, which earned him applause.<\/p>\n

\u201cI come to announce, openly, eye to eye, without hesitation, without blinking, without fear, without shaking my foot or hand, without looking to the right or to the left, without looking down, but looking forward , I want to announce, in the Republic of Nacala, that I, Vena\u0302ncio Mondlane, senior member of the Renamo party, am available and will advance as a candidate for the presidency of Renamo in the next congress,\u201d the pastor announced, to an emotional response from those present.<\/p>\n

Mondlane arrived in Nacala this Friday (12), where he was received by Raul Novinte and Renamo staff.<\/p>\n

Mondlane took the opportunity to present his own electoral manifesto, with which he will face Ossufo Momade in his challenge for the leadership of Renamo.<\/p>\n

A smiling Novinte, who has already said that felt abandoned by the Renamo leadership when he was recently under house arrest, followed Mondlane\u2019s speech closely.<\/p>\n
