Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A group of 82 Ethiopian citizens were detained in Manica, central Mozambique, on Sunday morning, for entering the country illegally, a police source told Lusa on Monday.<\/p>\n

They had no documents and intended to \u201ccross into Zimbabwe\u201d before heading to South Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were all without documents,\u201d Manica police spokesman Mateus Mindu\u0301 said, adding that the group was found in a cargo truck.<\/p>\n

According to Mindu\u0301, people in the group were aged between 14 and 45, and intended to \u201ccross to Zimbabwe\u201d, which borders Manica province, and rom there head to South Africa.<\/p>\n

Without giving any deadline, Mateus Mindu\u0301 said that the process of repatriating the 82 Ethiopians was underway.<\/p>\n

Mozambican authorities point out that crossing borders illegally is often carried out with the assistance of a guide or trafficker, who charges high amounts to transport foreigners in cargo vehicles, generally to South Africa.<\/p>\n
