Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>A group believed to be made up of \u2018Naparamas\u2019 militia members a few days ago beat and stripped a nurse working at the health post of Papai, in Namuno district, Cabo Delgado province, accusing her of spreading cholera.<\/p>\n

The incident was reported by Namuno district administrator Maria Felisbela La\u0301zaro , who said that, in addition to being beaten, the nurse was forced by her assailants to walk naked through the village.<\/p>\n

Maria Felisbela La\u0301zaro admitted that the situation in Namuno was beyond the control of the district government and has asked the provincial government to intervene.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe head of the Papai Administrative Post was persecuted and walked all night to reach the Namuno district headquarters,\u201d Maria Felisbela La\u0301zaro complains.<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity leaders and their families have abandoned their villages and sleep in the forest. The Naparamas beat community leaders, burn down their houses and nothing happens to them \u2013 they continue with impunity.\u201d<\/p>\n
