Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s government expressed its commitment on Thursday to removing all barriers to the mobility of people and goods and to trade in the Southern African Development Community (SADC), advocating reforms to achieve this goal.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the government of Mozambique, we reiterate our total willingness to jointly implement various initiatives that will allow for the removal of all barriers to mobility and trade,\u201d said the minister of transport and communications, Mateus Magala.<\/p>\n

Magala was speaking during a meeting with Zimbabwe\u2019s minister of transport and infrastructure development, Fe\u0301lix Mhona, as part of the Mozambican minister\u2019s visit to Harare, Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

Magala stressed the importance of Mozambique in eliminating obstacles to the movement of people and goods in southern Africa, given that the country has rail and port infrastructures that give access to the sea and allow international trade from neighbouring landlocked states.<\/p>\n

The SADC must work to implement reforms aimed at improving accessibility and mobility for people and goods, he said.<\/p>\n

Mateus Magala highlighted Mozambique\u2019s commitment to improving the efficiency of the Beira, Maputo and Nacala corridors, which allow neighbouring countries to trade internationally.<\/p>\n

Magala pointed to this month\u2019s start of uninterrupted operation of the Machipanda border crossing, which links Mozambique and Zimbabwe, as an important step forward in boosting economic and trade ties between the two countries.<\/p>\n
