Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Five districts in the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado have been inaccessible since Saturday, because of the collapse of a bridge over the Napacala river.<\/p>\n

The districts in question are Miudumbe, Mueda, Nangade, Mocimboa da Praia and Palma, all in the northernmost part of Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n

According to Monday\u2019s issue of the Maputo daily \u201cNoti\u0301cias\u201d, citing the delegate of the National Roads Administration (ANE), Jorge Govanhica, \u201cwe have a building contractor on that road, ready to intervene.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along the same road, prior to the bridge collapse, vehicles were escorted by military convoy from Macomia town to the northern districts, because of terrorist attacks. The road also serves the logistics of the Rovuma Basin natural gas industry, in Palma district.<\/p>\n

In the central province of Tete, Magoe district has become isolated from the rest of the province, after a bridge over road R601, between Cahora Bassa district and Mphende, was damaged as a result of a rise in the River Daque following heavy rains.<\/p>\n

Also in Magoe district, the heavy rain has also caused the collapse of a bridge over Caireze river.<\/p>\n

\u201cA building contractor was mobilized in order to repair the bridge. Both bridges need to be repaired so that material may be sent to the northern region, where other bridges need to be observed\u201d, said Victor Maicolo, the ANE delegate in Tete.<\/p>\n
