Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Macomia-Awasse section of National Highway 380 has reopened after a three-day hiatus left five districts isolated from the rest of the province of Cabo Delgado. The National Road Administration (ANE) says that the new structure does not limit the circulation of heavy vehicles.<\/p>\n

The traffic interruption was due to the collapse of a bridge over the Napakala river, on the road that connects the northern, central and southern regions of Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Radio Mozambique on Wednesday morning, the provincial ANE delegate Jorge Govanhica said that the road was open for all types of vehicles, without weight restriction.<\/p>\n

Govanhica however called on motorists to exercise caution, as additional work was still ongoing in the area of the collapsed roadway.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure swept away by floodwaters last Saturday was built in 1972, more than 50 years ago. This Tuesday, concrete shackles were positioned and covered with earth to replace the collapsed bridge.<\/p>\n
