Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Africa Cup of Nations commentator for Caf TV Roger Boli has said he has been impressed by several players at the ongoing tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Cafonline, Boli said he has been treated to quality matches in the 34th edition of the biennial continental showpiece.<\/p>\n

“Everything is fine. I commentate with my friend Frank Simon and we have been treated to quality games in group F,” he said.<\/p>\n

“I was able to see players of great talent, players who I liked before and who confirmed all the good things I think of them. I am impressed with players like Daka from Zambia and Kakuta from DR Congo.<\/p>\n

“I liked Ounnahi from Morocco who is having a good tournament, Sofiane Boufal, who is doing something impressive on the side too. Without forgetting Amrabat who does a good job in the midfield.<\/p>\n

Boli added that Nigeria looks solid in defense and their experience is crucial in them going deeper into the competition.<\/p>\n

“In the other teams, I like the collective strength of Nigeria, especially the central defense which has not conceded many goals,”he said.<\/p>\n

The Super Eagles’ first-choice defenders all ply trade in Europe.<\/p>\n

“Ekong, Ajayi, Bassey and also Aina do a great job on the pitch just like Lookman and Osimhen who even if he doesn’t score, bring a lot to his team. His work rate is important for the team,” Boli said.<\/p>\n

Despite missing the penalty in the last of 16 clash against Guinea on Sunday, Boli said Equatorial Guinea striker Emilio Nsue is one of the tournament’s best strikers.<\/p>\n

He also lauded the talent of Angolan winger Gelson Dala. Boli said this year’s championship is the most beautiful Afcon tournament he has ever attended since the 2002 edition in Mali.<\/p>\n

“I have attended all Afcon assignments since 2002 except that of 2015 where Ivory Coast won. The 2023 tournament is very good not because it is being played in Ivory Coast. I mainly talk about the quality of the matches and the players. Africa is starting to make a lot of progress.<\/p>\n

“We see very competitive matches. We see that there is no small team in the qualified teams. It\u2019s great to see all these players holding their place,” Boli pointed out.<\/p>\n
