Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Everton boss Sean Dyche says managers should be given more leeway for their behaviour on the touchline because of the amount of emotion during a game.<\/p>\n

Dyche will watch Saturday\u2019s visit to Manchester City from the stands after receiving his third yellow card of the season last weekend against Tottenham.<\/p>\n

He was booked by referee Michael Oliver after protesting against what he called \u201creally bad decisions\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think there should be a bit more tolerance,\u201d Dyche said. \u201cThe fourth official is there and if deep down they are thinking the referee might have that one wrong, I don\u2019t see why you are booked for it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the moment when they should use a bit of their game understanding and say \u2018OK, he maybe got that one wrong but we need you to stay in the technical area\u2019. I think that can be a calming down moment.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the start of the season referees\u2019 chief Howard Webb said he was \u201cdetermined\u201d that officials did not \u201cturn a blind eye\u201d to bad behaviour as it was having a negative impact at grassroots level.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important our officials differentiate between emotion and passion, but for too long officials have not been able to make that differentiation too well or they have turned a blind eye to certain things, maybe thinking it was best not to draw attention to what might have been perceived as an error on the field,\u201d former World Cup referee Webb said.<\/p>\n

But Dyche believes if officials showed more empathy it would calm down exasperated managers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fourth [official] doesn\u2019t have to agree with me but could go \u2018just slow yourself down\u2019, to calm the moment,\u201d he said. \u201cWhereas if you are going outside your box and doing what you are doing all the time that is different, it\u2019s your own fault – but not when it\u2019s something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
