Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Unidentified armed criminals have restricted road traffic at the Macomia \u2013 Bilibiza crossroads, in the northern Mozambican Province of Cabo Delgado, causing long queues of vehicles on both sides of the EN380 road, according to a report in Friday\u2019s issue of the independent newssheet \u201cCarta de Moc\u0327ambique.\u201d<\/p>\n

It is believed that these men may have relations with the Islamist terrorists that have been looting and murdering in some districts of Cabo Delgado since 2017.<\/p>\n

According to sources cited by the paper, the armed men, estimated at ten in number, stopped vehicles and demanded money, but did not harm their victims.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were all masked, they only left their eyes visible, like the alshababs (as the jihadists are commonly known)\u201d, said one man. But he did not believe they were really islamists \u201cbecause they don\u2019t say Allah Akbar (God is great)\u201d.<\/p>\n

The place where the armed men stopped several vehicles is located close to the village of Nangololo, which has previously been the target of terrorist attacks that have resulted in deaths and injuries.<\/p>\n

Cabo Delgado province has been plagued by terrorist attacks since 2017, which have led to a Mozambican military response since July 2021, with support from Rwanda and Military Mission in Mozambique of the Southern African Development Community (SAMIM).<\/p>\n
