Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The institutions of justice seem to be increasingly vulnerable in Manica. Last weekend, the location chosen by the criminals was the Attorney General\u2019s Office in Chimoio, capital of Manica province.<\/p>\n

Individuals as yet unidentified have robbed the Chimoio City Attorney General\u2019s Office, stealing the Chief Public Prosecutor\u2019s computer and cell phone and flash drive containing classified information.<\/p>\n

According to Remigy Guiamba, chief prosecutor of Chimoio, the criminals broke in through the window of his office, and has no doubt that the individuals were looking for two cases in particular.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne case has to do with kidnapping, another deals with employment fraud. We have many fraud cases related to employment, linked to promises of employment at the PRM [Police of the Republic of Mozambique]. It\u2019s not one and it\u2019s not two. There are several,\u201d Guiamba said.<\/p>\n

Having failed to find the case files in question, they stole some goods, the prosecutor explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe discovered that a laptop computer had disappeared from my office, along with its charger, a pen drive and a damaged cell phone we were no longer using,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

A few days ago, the police presented four minors as those responsible for the robbery, but the public prosecutor denied that the street children brought forward committed the crime.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf they had been, in fact, those minors [carrying out the break in], there were cookies, juices and other goods in the office. If it had been done by street children, they would certainly have taken cookies and juices,\u201d explained the source.<\/p>\n

The aforementioned four minors, who were detained at the first police station in Chimoio, have already been released. Remigy Guiamba himself urged their release, being convinced that they were not the parties responsible.<\/p>\n
