Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>During its annual General Assembly on March 6, the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique announced a milestone leadership change and the reactivation of the Mozambican Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FMCC). The event, attended by Alain Gaschen, Switzerland\u2019s Ambassador to Mozambique, celebrated the tenure of outgoing president Adrian Frey and elected and welcomed Nicola Del Vecchio as its new president.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdrian is a pillar of the Swiss business community,\u201d said Ambassador Gaschen, reflecting on the Chamber\u2019s achievements since 2014 under Frey\u2019s leadership. \u201cThrough his work at MozParks, he has prioritized sustainability and contributed to the country\u2019s socio-economic growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frey\u2019s the Chairman of MozParks, an operator of Sustainable Economic Zones\u2014also known as eco-industrial parks\u2014in Mozambique. MozParks is the only industrial park operator in the country, with sites in Beluluane and Nampula and expansion plans in Cabo Delgado province. His efforts have also contributed to the inception of MozYouth, a private sector-led initiative between MozParks, FNB, and Hollard that supports youth employment, especially among women.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur Chamber is an impressive group of small and medium enterprises, NGOs, and global players like Sika, MSC, MLT, and Puma Energy that have joined forces,\u201d said Frey. \u201cI will continue to advocate for ties between the private sector and the government, driving investment and entrepreneurship to Mozambique.\u201d<\/p>\n

The General Assembly announced Nicola Del Vecchio, the Managing Director of MSC, as the new president. Board members include Stefan Von Euw from the African Food Company, Andreas Ziegler Mendonc\u0327a from SwissSolar Lda, Pedro Lopes from Sika, Danilo Correira from Puma Energy Mozambique, Rory Micklem from MLTC, and Adrian Frey from MozParks, which reflect a spectrum of industries committed to the Chamber\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n

In his acceptance speech, Del Vecchio emphasized Mozambique\u2019s potential and the Chamber\u2019s critical role in facilitating economic development.<\/p>\n

FMCC and Swiss Chamber Synergy<\/b><\/p>\n

Frey\u2019s next steps include joining Evaristo Madime as co-president of the FMCC, a non-profit business association comprising bilateral Chambers of Commerce in Mozambique. With over 500 member companies, the FMCC\u2019s primary objective is to encourage business growth synergies and facilitate economic partnerships across sectors, focusing on industrial areas and international trade. MozParks will provide technical and administrative support to the FMCC over the next three years.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re powering up the Federation,\u201d said Madime. \u201cWe look forward to collaborating with the new board and counting on the Swiss Chamber of Commerce in Mozambique as an active supporter.\u201d<\/p>\n
