Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Eight people have died and two are missing as a result of a shipwreck that occurred this Monday in the district of Caia, Sofala province.<\/p>\n

The incident took place on one of the tributaries of the Zambezi River when the canoe carrying the victims sank.<\/p>\n

The boat had twelve occupants, all from the same family, of which two survived.<\/p>\n

Overcrowding of the canoe is cited as the likely cause of the tragedy.<\/p>\n

The administrator of the Caia district, Nobre dos Santos, said that after the shipwreck alert was given, the search for the missing persons immediately began.<\/p>\n
