Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The Mozambican Association of Recycling, known as AMOR, will train 50 Civil Society Organizations focused on natural resources management in nine municipalities across the North, Centre, and South of the country. The aim is to enhance environmental protection and preservation. Primary and secondary schools will also be involved in the initiative.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis target group will receive funding through the project. They will be equipped with materials and tools and will also receive entrepreneurship training for several years in environmental management,\u201d said Jean Wiesenmueller, National Director of Horizont 3000. According to Wiesenmueller, Horizont 3000, the organization responsible for fund management and initiative monitoring, plans to create public events and involve social groups and volunteers in beach clean-ups. \u201cAt the end of the project, we will try to establish a more comprehensive solid waste management system.\u201d<\/p>\n

The training for Civil Society Organizations is part of the Mozambican Eco-Civicism project, which aims to build environmental governance capacity within organizations and promote effective participation in State decisions for environmental protection.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope to achieve circular economy through recycling. It\u2019s a very strong component, and we want to empower civil society organizations and raise awareness through municipal councils at the neighborhood level about the value of solid resources in the municipality,\u201d said Valdemiro Amisse, project manager of Mozambican Eco-Civicism at the Mozambican Recycling Association.<\/p>\n

The United Nations Human Settlements Program welcomes the initiative. \u201cThis project will encourage the involvement of all actors to make it a reality. Having schools and neighborhood associations involved in the project will be of great value,\u201d said Marla Dava, representative of the United Nations Human Settlements Program.<\/p>\n

With a duration of three years, the initiative is a collaboration between the government and the private sector, funded by the European Union and implemented by AMOR in partnership with Horizonte300.<\/p>\n
