Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The inauguration ceremony of the project to improve the energy supply to MozParks by President Nyusi and German Ambassador Ronald Muench took place today, Friday, May 10, 2024, at MozParks in Beluluane.<\/p>\n

MozParks is Mozambique\u2019s first and largest industrial park and a prestigious project of the Mozambican government. Its power supply has now been improved, reinforced and connected to the national electricity grid through a more reliable transmission line.<\/p>\n

The 50 companies that currently operate at MozParks \u2013 employing more than 10,000 people \u2013 have relied heavily on burning diesel fuel through diesel generators to meet their energy consumption needs. This inefficient and costly option had a high environmental impact and discouraged companies from establishing themselves in the park.<\/p>\n

The project is being implemented by Electricity of Mozambique (\u201cEletricidade de Moc\u0327ambique\u201d \u2013 EDM) and is being financed by a 20.8 million euro grant from German Cooperation through the German Development Bank (\u201cKfW\u201d).<\/p>\n

Once the project is completed, the number of companies based in the park and employment opportunities for the communities around it are expected to increase. MozParks plans to host more than 100 companies, which could create around 20,000 new jobs over the next 10 years. In addition, around 3,000 new customers in disadvantaged communities will have consistent and long-term sustainable access to energy in the Mavoco and Mahoche areas.<\/p>\n
