Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>It\u2019s proving challenging for the country to secure more athletes directly for the Paris Olympic Games. Thus far, only Alcinda dos Santos in boxing and Deyse Nhaquile in sailing have achieved such a feat. Despite winning the bronze medal yesterday at the Open African Abidjan, judoka Jacira remains off the qualification route.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting that Jacira Ferreira, in the -52 kg category, lost the Continental Quota by being defeated in the first match at the World Championships held last May in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Continental Quota is awarded by the International Judo Federation to the top 12 judokas whose country of origin has not yet qualified any athletes. This \u201ctitle\u201d now belongs to Mauritian judoka Priscilla Morand.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, this coming Saturday, June 8, Jacira will compete again at the Open African Abidjan, which marks the final qualification window for the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, swimmer Matthew Lawrence has exhausted all chances of achieving the minimum time in the 100-meter breaststroke in the last qualification \u201cwindow\u201d held yesterday in Porto, Portugal, after falling short of expectations in Monaco and Barcelona last week. To qualify, the swimmer needed to set a time of 59.79 seconds, while his best time stands at 1 minute and 4.75 seconds.<\/p>\n

In addition to the judoka, the beach volleyball duo Zelito and Touch are still on the qualification route.<\/p>\n
