Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The overall volume of Mozambique\u2019s foreign trade in goods abroad fell by 16.8% in 2020 compared to the previous year, the National Statistics Institute (INE) said on Wednesday in the bulletin of statistics on Foreign Trade.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2020, goods worth a total of $10.05 billion (\u20ac8.55 billion) were transacted with foreign countries against the $12.09 billion (\u20ac10.28 billion) recorded in 2019,\u201d according to the document.<\/p>\n

The highest ever level of Mozambique\u2019s trade in goods with foreign countries was reached in 2013 with $14.12 billion (\u20ac12 billion),\u201d it said.<\/p>\n

Between 2019 and 2020, the trade balance worsened by about $123.6 million (\u20ac105 million ), going from -$2.75 billion (-\u20ac2.34 billion) in 2019 to -$2.88 billion (-\u20ac2.44 billion) in 2020.<\/p>\n

In 2020, the country exported goods worth a total of $3.58 billion (\u20ac3.04 billion), equivalent to a drop of 23.1% compared to the $4.66 billion (\u20ac3.96 billion) recorded in 2019.<\/p>\n

On the imports side, an overall value of $6.47 billion (\u20ac5.49 billion) was recorded, which was also a drop of 12.9% compared to the $7.42 billion (\u20ac6.31 billion) recorded in 2019.<\/p>\n

Both in 2019 and 2020 South Africa was the main trading partner with Mozambique.<\/p>\n

At the level of imports from the European Union, Portugal was Mozambique\u2019s main partner (33.5%), followed by Italy (16.0%), Germany (11.9%) and the Netherlands (8.2%).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
