Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>In the coming weeks, 11 young Mozambicans from different provinces of the country will travel to the UK to study for their Master\u2019s degrees. They join the network of 50,000 exceptional professionals around the world who have been awarded Chevening Scholarships.<\/p>\n

Chevening Scholarships are awarded to individuals from all backgrounds who can demonstrate that they have the commitment and skills required to create positive change, and can show how a UK master\u2019s degree will help them do that. The scholarship offers full financial support for scholars to study for any eligible master\u2019s degree at any UK university, whilst also gaining access to a wide range of exclusive academic, professional, and cultural experiences.<\/p>\n

Since the programme was created in 1983, over 300 Mozambican professionals have had the opportunity to develop through Chevening. This includes leaders in the fields of politics, business, sustainable development and civil society.<\/p>\n

Elisangela Rassul is one of the 11 Mozambicans awarded with a Chevening Scholarship for the 2021\/2022 academic year. She will be studying an MSc in Sustainability Transitions at the University of Aberdeen. She said:<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019As humanity, we are facing a crossroad, where we have to rethink our development model and make room for a new civilizing paradigm, based on a regenerative culture and purposeful life.<\/p>\n

The MSc in Sustainability Transitions target passionate professionals that aim to leverage the Sustainable Development Agenda (SDGs) to address urgent matters such as social justice, circular economy, climate change, environment regeneration and biodiversity preservation.<\/p>\n

Being a Chevening Scholar is a commitment to this life purpose at such critical moment of human history, and an opportunity to be part of a network of visionary and influential professionals and conscientious citizens around the globe.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

Alexandra Sheppard, Deputy High Commissioner to Mozambique said:<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2019I would like to congratulate the 11 young Mozambicans awarded with Chevening Scholarships. They represent what Chevening is all about: people who are passionate about driving change, whether on a local or global scale, who want to be the best at what they do and have the imagination to inspire others.<\/p>\n

There is no such thing as a \u2018typical\u2019 scholar. When you apply for a Chevening Scholarship, your age, race, gender, religion and cultural background don\u2019t matter. We\u2019re looking for energy, curiosity and compassion, and want to see that you have a clear vision for the future and the ability and drive to achieve your goals. Applications for Chevening Scholarships to study in the UK are open until 2 November 2021. There are more than 1,500 scholarships on offer globally for the 2022\/2023 academic year, demonstrating the UK\u2019s ongoing commitment towards developing the leaders of tomorrow. Chevening Scholarships are the UK Government\u2019s global scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations.
