Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) on Friday acquired a new director general in the person of Nelson Valente Rego, a distinguished member of the State Intelligence and Security Service (SISE), who will replace Domingos Jofane, who leaves the post after two years in office, Carta de Mo\u00e7ambique reports.<\/p>\n

Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Ros\u00e1rio challenged SERNIC\u2019s new director-general to prevent and fight crime, as well as to deepen the knowledge of the institution\u2019s agents so that they \u201ccan quickly clarify the investigative quality and procedural crimes that occur in our country, especially those related to kidnappings, human trafficking, money laundering, drug trafficking and cyber crimes, among others\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will introduce myself to the institution to which I was appointed and join a team that is already doing a great job. Our mission is to fight crime and that is what we are going to do,\u201d new SERNIC director general Rego said.<\/p>\n

SERNIC replaced the former Criminal Investigation Police (PIC) and is mandated to carry out criminal investigations without interference from, organic dependence on, or hierarchical subordination to, the General Command of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
