Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique is to acquire a National Surgical Centre, a modern facility to be built on the premises of Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) in the nation\u2019s capital.<\/p>\n

The information was shared this Saturday by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, during the inauguration of the Massinga District Hospital in the southern province of Inhambane, Mozambique.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to take this opportunity to share that my government, in partnership with the People\u2019s Republic of China, has concluded that we will build a national surgical centre for Mozambique, and it will be located at Maputo Central Hospital,\u201d the president announced.<\/p>\n

According to the head of state, preparations for the construction of the centre have already begun. The new eight-story building will have 14 operating rooms and the capacity to accommodate 475 beds at an estimated cost pf around US$42 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will be one of the largest healthcare facilities in the country, and will include emergency services, medical emergencies, intensive care units, an operating theatre, surgical and orthopaedic wards, as well as administrative offices, rooms for equipment and information and communication technologies, security systems, and fire-fighting systems,\u201d the president detailed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue working until the last minute to ensure its completion,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The construction of the national surgical centre was agreed upon during the recent visit of the Mozambican head of state to China.<\/p>\n
