Africa-Press<\/a> – Mozambique<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The officer of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) accused of killing musician Max Love is being tried in absentia.<\/p>\n

No one knows the whereabouts of the man charged with the murder of Jaime Paulo which took place in 2013 (November 21), during commemorations of Manuel de Ara\u00fajo\u2019s electoral victory in Quelimane.<\/p>\n

At the start of the trial session this morning, the Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office said that a search and arrest warrant had been issued against the agent who, at the time, was assigned to protect the residence of the governor of Zamb\u00e9zia.<\/p>\n

This Wednesday three witnesses, all of them police officers on duty at the governor\u2019s residence that day, gave statements to the court. Max Love\u2019s mother was heard too. The Public Prosecutor asked that the defendant be sentenced to prison for murder , whose penalty is 16 to 24 years in prison, and to pay compensation to the victim\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n

The judge announced that the sentence will be delivered on November 9.<\/p>\n
