{"id":8107,"date":"2021-10-29T17:42:35","date_gmt":"2021-10-29T17:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\/?p=8107"},"modified":"2021-10-29T16:38:42","modified_gmt":"2021-10-29T16:38:42","slug":"mozambique-traffic-resumes-on-cuamba-nampula-line-photos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/mozambique\/all-news\/mozambique-traffic-resumes-on-cuamba-nampula-line-photos","title":{"rendered":"Mozambique: Traffic resumes on Cuamba-Nampula line"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The stretch of railway between the northern Mozambican cities of Cuamba and Nampula reopened to traffic on Wednesday, after an interruption of nearly a week following the derailment of a coal train on the bridge over the Namutimbwa River, close to Cuamba.<\/p>\n<p>A press release issued by Nacala-Logistics, the company that operates the line, confirms that, following the removal of debris from the tracks, trains are moving again between Cuamba and Nampula.<\/p>\n<p>The accident interrupted traffic from Nacala-a-Velha on the coast to Cuamba, but it did not affect traffic further west, on the stretch from Cuamba to Entre-Lagos on the border with Malawi, or on the branch line from Cuamba to Lichinga, capital of Niassa province.<\/p>\n<p>Nacala-Logistics runs trains from the Moatize coal basin, in the central province of Tete, to the coal terminal in Nacala-a-Velha. The line also carries general cargo and passenger trains.<\/p>\n<p>Last week\u2019s derailment caused two deaths and seven other people were injured, two of them seriously.
