Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Unknown assailants on Friday murdered a Portuguese businessman, Jose Pedro Silva, in the southern Mozambican municipality of Matola.<\/p>\n

Silva was the executive director of the company Sotubos, and the son of the company\u2019s owner.<\/p>\n

According to Maputo provincial police spokesperson, Claudio Ngulele, Silva was monitoring and collecting money from outlying branches of the company when the attack occurred at about 13.00.<\/p>\n

The assailants used their vehicle, a black BMW, to block Silva\u2019s car and then opened fire through the window. The only other people in the car were Silva\u2019s driver and a bodyguard.<\/p>\n

Silva was shot in the chest. The driver headed for the nearest hospital, but Silva was dead on arrival.<\/p>\n

The police suspect that the shooting was a robbery gone wrong. There were also claims that the gang had intended to kidnap Silva \u2013 but kidnap gangs do not kill their victims.<\/p>\n
