Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) kicked off this Sunday in the Scottish city of Glasgow, UK, with Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique Carlos Agostinho do Ros\u00e1rio participating on behalf of the President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister is accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuel Jos\u00e9 Gon\u00e7alves, the Deputy Minister of Land and Environment, Fernando Bemane de Sousa, and staff representing government institutions, the private sector and civil society.<\/p>\n

The official COP26 opening, in the presence of more than 100 heads of state and governments, is scheduled for this Monday.<\/p>\n

Speaking in a brief interview with Mozambican journalists covering the conference, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Manuel Gon\u00e7alves indicated that Mozambique would share its experience in mitigating the impact of climate change and managing environmental matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cMozambique comes to this summit, first to transmit its experience in mitigating the impact of climate change. Mozambique has been plagued several times and in consecutive years by natural disasters, including cyclones and floods, so let us convey our experience of managing this issue of climate change impact,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation also underlined that Mozambique would use the COP26 platform to mobilize funding to face the impacts of climate change.<\/p>\n
