Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique\u2019s National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) has issued notifications to 35 businesses and suspended 10 others across the country, following a number of irregularities found by the inspection teams on ground.<\/p>\n

Briefing reporters on Tuesday in Maputo at the fortnightly media briefing, INAE spokesperson, Tomas Timba, deplored many excesses, particularly by owners of bars and restaurants, following the recent easing of restrictive measures put in place to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

The irregularities found, he said, include expired licences, loud music and dancing at restaurants, non-compliance with the trading hours as well as lack of sanitising products at the doors, he indicated.<\/p>\n

INAE had also detected large gatherings, violating the limits established for how many people may attend events.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs for restaurants and the sale of alcoholic drinks, we would like to recommend the managements update their licencing, mainly because they spent over one year out of service,\u201d he indicated.<\/p>\n

He advised bar owners to prioritise the use of outdoor seating without exceeding 50 per cent of capacity. Inside, the number of people allowed to enter should not be more than 20 per cent of capacity.<\/p>\n

Timba also warned families holding social events such as birthday and wedding parties to comply with social and physical distancing and the number of occupants per table.<\/p>\n

The tables used for such events in restaurants and similar establishments can normally be occupied by 10 people, but because of the Covid-19 pandemic, there should be a maximum of six people to ensure the needed distancing. Timba said.<\/p>\n
