Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Mozambique advocates an energy transition to cleaner and more environmentally friendly energies that is gradual and phased in order to minimise the impact on the economic development process.<\/p>\n

This stance was revealed by the Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Ros\u00e1rio, who was speaking on Tuesday, November 2nd, in Glasgow, United Kingdom, at the Leaders Summit of the 26th Session of the Conference of the States Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister is attending the global event on behalf of the President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi.<\/p>\n

According to Carlos Agostinho do Ros\u00e1rio, at this moment, it is a priority the implementation of an energy transition program based on a diversified matrix, with cleaner and environmentally friendly sources, which are in line with the country\u2019s development programs. It is in this context that the use of natural gas as transition energy to cleaner sources is proposed.<\/p>\n

\u201cMozambique is determined to continue its efforts to reach, by the year 2030, the levels of 62% of renewable energy contribution in the national energy matrix within the scope of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.\u201d<\/p>\n

The representative of the Mozambican State at the COP26 referred that the country has been betting on the opportunities of the voluntary carbon market to promote sustainable forest management, therefore, it supports the Declaration on Forests and Land Use.<\/p>\n

\u201cHowever, we recognise that reaching these levels is a great challenge because it presupposes financing sources and adequate technologies duly ensured to facilitate the massification of the use of clean energies\u201d clarified the leader.<\/p>\n

Taking into account this scenario, the governor launched an appeal for all to join Mozambique\u2019s efforts in the resources and technologies mobilization necessary for the implementation of an energy transition programme that includes cleaner and environment friendly sources without, however, compromising the socio-economic development process.
