Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Inflation in Mozambique in October was 0.89 per cent, according to the latest figures from the National Statistics Institute (INE), based on the consumer price indices of the three largest cities (Maputo, Nampula and Beira).<\/p>\n

Inflation in the first ten months of the year was 4.14 per cent, and annual inflation (1 November 2020 to 31 October 2021) was 6.42 per cent.<\/p>\n

The main price rises in October were for petrol (3.7 per cent), coconuts (15.5 per cent), tomatoes (5.3 per cent), dried fish (3.5 per cent), and fresh fish (1.2 per cent).<\/p>\n

These rises were offset by products where the average price dropped over the month, including cassava flour (a price fall of 6.4 per cent), onions (2.7 per cent), and groundnuts (2.4 per cent).<\/p>\n

Inflation was not the same in all three cities. The sharpest price rises were in Nampula, where the monthly inflation rate for October was 1.2 per cent, followed by Maputo, with 0.87 per cent, and Beira, with 0.47 per cent.<\/p>\n
