Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Civil society organisation \u201cSaber Nascer\u201d, an entity dedicated to humanising obstetric care in Mozambique, says that more than 20 cases of obstetric violence were reported in the city and province of Maputo during the last quarter, but only two \u2013 one in Maputo Provincial Hospital and the other at Ndlavela Maternity Hospital \u2013 were forwarded to judicial authorities.<\/p>\n

According to the organisation, a further seven cases led to the opening of administrative proceedings, while the rest were dropped due to complainants withdrawing because of procedural delays.<\/p>\n

This picture was shared by the organisation in Maputo on Wednesday at the launch of a national campaign to combat obstetric violence, called \u201cHumaniza Moz\u201d.<\/p>\n

Against this backdrop, more than ten civil society organisations advocating the promotion and protection of the human rights of women and girls, have launched \u201cHumaniza Moz\u201d.<\/p>\n

The goal of the campaign is to end the obstetric violence which has been reducing the number of institutional births, according to Eug\u00e9nia Tsawo, the representative of the Health Directorate of Maputo City present at the launch.<\/p>\n

The \u201cHumaniza Moz\u201d campaign aims to promote obstetric humanisation in Mozambique, leveraging respect and valorisation of the rights of users of obstetric services, combating gender-based violence and promoting justice and social protection.<\/p>\n
