Africa-Press – Mozambique. <\/strong><\/span>Public consultation regarding the proposed 2020-2042 National Development Strategy (ENDE) was launched in Zamb\u00e9zia province this Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The Development Strategy \u2013 a document aimed at guiding the development of Mozambique in the above mentioned period \u2013 has the potential to influence other short, medium and long term planning instruments, such as Sectoral and Territorial Strategic Plans.<\/p>\n

Among the other essential instruments are the government\u2019s Five-Year Program, Medium-Term Fiscal Scenario, Economic and Social Plan and State Budget.<\/p>\n

According to Rosil Tiane, a technician assigned to the National Directorate of Economic and Development Policies and speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the objective of the meeting was to guide and articulate discussions on where Mozambique wants to be in 2042, and the paths to be followed in pursuit of such goals.<\/p>\n

Tiane stressed that the instrument defines the country\u2019s development goals and priorities, so it was opportune to solicit the broadest possible opinions on it.<\/p>\n

The representative of the Ministry of Finance stressed that the review of the ENDE would be carried out in a participatory and inclusive manner, based on diagnoses and public consultations, and including official documents, studies, surveys, and other reference instruments.<\/p>\n

The hearing of the proposal for the revision of the instrument will also seek interaction with sectors at central and provincial levels, the private sector, civil society, national and international partners, academia and other development stakeholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn this way, the ENDE will have a horizon of 20 years (2022-2042), and must be presented in accordance with the SISTAFE law n\u00ba.14\/2020,\u201d Tiane said, adding that the ENDE would bring to the diagnosis the country\u2019s main economic and social development indicators, and address the main challenges and the macroeconomic scenario expected over the next 20 years.<\/p>\n

The consultation comprises three phases, the first addressing the provincial Secretaries of State and Executive Councils, the second the private sector, civil society, non-governmental organizations, and, finally, academia and the general public.<\/p>\n
