Funded by the municipality, the project addresses residents&#8217; concerns about previous road repairs that failed to last.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span class=\"ap-article-header-tag\"> <strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Mozambique. <\/strong> <\/span>Lui\u0301s Giquira, mayor of the northern Mozambican city of Nampula, on Thursday launched a project to rehabilitate about 2.6 kilometres of roads.<\/p>\n<p>The project, which is budgeted at 150 million meticais (2.3 million US dollars, at the current exchange rate), is aimed at improving urban mobility and traffic conditions.<\/p>\n<p>According to Giquira, cited by the independent daily \u201cO Pai\u0301s\u201d, although the road is the responsibility of the National Roads Administration (ANE), the municipality decided to proceed with the intervention.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe measure is essential to address the concerns of residents and ensure better traffic conditions. The works focus on Avenida 25 de Setembro, one of the city\u2019s main thoroughfares\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>He also revealed that the project was funded out of the Municipality\u2019s own budget.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want the work to be done well this time, because many roads that were rehabilitated previously did not last\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Nampula, a key city in northern Mozambique, has faced challenges with urban infrastructure, particularly in road maintenance and rehabilitation. The city&#8217;s growth has necessitated improvements in transportation networks to support economic activities and enhance the quality of life for residents.
