Africa-Press – Namibia. PRIME Minister Dr Tjitunga Elijah Ngurare has called for strengthened economic and development cooperation between Namibia and Germany following a meeting with Namibia’s Honorary Consul in Bavaria, Prof. Dr Max Schlereth, during his inaugural visit to the country.
Ngurare welcomed Schlereth and outlined Namibia’s expectations for the role of Honorary Consul, while commending him for his recent donation of 150 beds and 300 mattresses to two schools in the Omusati and Ohangwena regions, made in his personal capacity.
The Prime Minister encouraged Schlereth to act as a key link between Namibian and Bavarian stakeholders, working closely with the Namibian Embassy in Berlin to deepen economic relations.
“I am your man in Bavaria,” Schlereth said, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening ties between Namibia and Germany.
Ngurare also highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two countries and reaffirmed Namibia’s commitment to expanding cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, agriculture and agro-processing, tourism, ICT, public service development, and education, particularly Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
He further stressed the need to improve public healthcare services and explore partnerships in areas such as the development of a National Data Centre and small-scale inland desalination plants to enhance water supply in rural areas.
