SWAPO Party President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has announced the postponement of the party’s 66th anniversary celebrations and the official inauguration of its national headquarters in Windhoek to 26 April 2026.

Speaking to supporters and sympathisers, Nandi-Ndaitwah said the party had originally planned to combine the anniversary celebrations with the inauguration of the new headquarters on 19 April 2026, but the events have been deferred out of respect for the passing of SWAPO Member of Parliament James Uerikua and his son, following a recent road accident.

“We had planned that on the 19th April this year, we would celebrate the 66th anniversary together with the official inauguration of our National Headquarters in Windhoek. Unfortunately, our plans are not God’s plans,” she said.

She confirmed that both the anniversary celebrations and the headquarters inauguration will now take place on Sunday, 26 April 2026, starting at 09:00, with a detailed programme to be communicated in due course.
