Africa-Press – Namibia. GONDWANA Collection Namibia – one of Namibia’s top groups in the hospitality sector – has taken over the management of Am Weinberg Hotel in Windhoek.
“We are excited to announce that Am Weinberg Hotel will join the Gondwana portfolio on 1 February 2022” Gys Joubert, the chief executive officer of Gondwana Collection Namibia said in a statement released yesterday.
“We are honoured that there is so much trust in our brand and in our ability to run this iconic Windhoek hotel, which will now be proudly owned and managed by Namibians,” he said, adding that, “It’s been a long-time dream for Gondwana Collection Namibia to add a hotel in the capital city to our collection. The stylish hotel impeccably blends old world allure with the comforts of the 21st century.”
Joubert said the Gondwana team will maintain the quality of Am Weinberg, which will now be called ‘The Weinberg’ and the company anticipates a seamless transition and foresees a fruitful collaboration with the entire team of employees, being welcomed into the Gondwana family, by the accomplished hotel manager, Janet Wilson-Moore.
Situated near the city centre and a short drive from the international airport, The Weinberg is well suited for both leisure travellers and professionals, and provides an ideal venue for conferences, events and celebrations.
The 41-roomed intimate hotel, centred around the fountain courtyard, offers direct access to the facilities of the Am Weinberg Estate, including; Soulstice Day-Spa, Cape Town Fish Market, Butcher’s Block and Olivia’s Kitchen. As Gondwana Collection Namibia takes over the hotel, the Sky Lounge will be closed for maintenance as from 1 February.
“It is exciting to engage with a new team that is so excited to join the Gondwana family. Beyond that, after two difficult years in tourism, we now have the opportunity to lead this hotel into a brilliant new future,” says Wilson-Moore, the new general manager of the hotel and the Hotel Collection for Gondwana.
As from 1 February, Gondwana cardholders will also enjoy accommodation at The Weinberg at the standard discount of 50% for Namibians and 40% for Southern African Development Community citizens on bed and breakfast.
