Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Omaheke Region has for three consecutive days recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 infections with two schools reporting 110 cases.

According to the Ministry of Health and Social Services, among the new cases reported countrywide from 4 to 6 February are 125 learners of which 66 are from Epako High School in Gobabis and 44 from Otjivero Primary School in the Gobabis district.

A total of 264 new cases were recorded from 3 970 results, of which 132 cases were from Omaheke.

Three deaths occurred in the Windhoek, Engela and Oshikuku districts and none of the deceased were vaccinated.

The number of active cases is 5 989.

There are 72 hospitalised cases of which 65 are not vaccinated, constituting 90.2%. Four cases are in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and none of them are vaccinated.

By 5 February, the number of fully vaccinated adults and children stood at 362 847, translating to 20.4% of the total target population (1 779 271), while 18 525 people have received a booster dose.

Vaccinations are still encouraged as the unvaccinated are dominating the Covid-19 infections, hospitalisations and death statistics.
