Windhoek, March 18– The city of Windhoek on Friday, announced the closure of free water and reinstatement of prepaid water supply in the informal settlement. “Residents will be required to use their water tokens to get water, as done previously, and those who have lost their water tokens should buy new ones from their nearest municipal offices”. Reads a statement

The Free water supply was initiated by the City of Windhoek after The Namibian President, Dr. Hage G. Geingob declared a state of emergency on 17 March 2020, which introduced measures such as the closure of all borders, suspension of gatherings, and economic related resolutions due to COVID 19. However, the supply of free water has caused a financial burden to Council, Prompting to stop it.
