Africa-Press – Namibia. JOSEPH Martin and Elias Mulombwelwa won the Bank Windhoek Independence Betterball competition which was held at the Windhoek Golf and Country Club on Saturday.
Martin and Mulombwelwa completed the course with a total of 51 points to finish ahead of Michael Hoeseb and Ignatius Shilinge (45) and Johannes Xoagub and Lukas Hamata (44).
They were followed by two pairs on 43 points each, namely Rochel Celliers and Paul Adkins, and Wilfried Emvula and Gerhard Byleveld, while four other pairs finished on 42 points each.
They are Jamie Joseph and Elton Fryer; Andre Visser and Kyle Wait; Toady Gurirab and Inocencio Verde; and Ian Wood and Mike Beavis.
The nearest-to-the-pin winners were Elias Mulombwelwa on the third hole, Koos Maartens on the ninth hole, Inocencio Verde on the 13th hole, and Andrew Dodds on the 17th hole.
The course was in a spectacular condition, while a total of 27 teams competed in the tournament.
The Windhoek Golf and Country Club will host the second of four Windhoek Lager International Pairs qualifying competitions this coming Saturday, 26 March.
