Namibian para-swimmer Mateus ‘Spiderman’ Angula on Sunday scooped a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke event at the South African Swimming Championships in Gqeberha, which saw the Namibian swimmer finishing the race under 50 seconds.

Speaking after the race, Angula thanked his coaching staff for working tirelessly to ensure he was ready for the competition and ensuring that preparations went

smoothly. “I feel so happy winning the medal. I want to thank my coach for guiding me on what to do, especially during the first heats. I’m really happy and thank everyone for the great support,” said an excited Angula, who also represented Namibia at the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships in London.
