Swapo’s 62nd anniversary commemorations continue in Oshana

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Swapo Party in the Oshana Region is continuing with the commemoration of its 62nd anniversary, with national leaders now addressing events at the district (constituency) level.

Swapo was founded on 19 April 1960. The commemorative activities were kick-started in the region by the party’s Secretary-General Sophia Shaningwa who addressed a rally at Oshakati on Sunday. Five events are planned for the next three days.

According to the programme released by the regional mobilizer Magdalena Hango, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila will address a Swapo gathering at the (General) Salomon Awala branch in the Ondangwa Rural District on Saturday.

On Sunday she will address a similar event in the Okakana District. Swapo Party members, supporters and sympathizers in the Okaku District will that same day (Sunday) be addressed by veteran politician Ben Amathila. Parliamentarian Jerry Ekandjo is expected to address two events in the Ompundja District at Enguwatale on Sunday and Monday respectively.
