Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair (OATF) will take place after two years of postponement due to the outbreak of coronavirus that brought all activities to a standstill in the country.

This was done to curb the further spread of the virus. The trade fair is scheduled for 26 August to 01 September 2022 at the Ongwediva Trade Fair Centre.

The Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair is Namibia’s largest and long-standing multi-sectional trade and business exposition that is annually hosted by the Ongwediva Trade Fair Society in conjunction with the Ongwediva Town Council and in collaboration with various public and private stakeholders.

Town spokesperson Jackson Muma stated that they do that to promote trade and facilitate business interaction between various role-players locally and internationally.

Muma said at least 350 exhibitors from various economic sectors locally and internationally are expected to showcase their products and service on the ground with the option of the virtual exhibition.

“The inclusion of the Virtual Exhibition platform cements OATF’s objective of being a proactive force and a vehicle of Namibia’s economic growth by promoting quality products and services through technological evolution,” he said.

Muma indicated that the virtual format is an alternative method of online exhibition signifying the need to transform from a traditional way of conducting business to a modernized way of online business networking, hence the theme “Gearing for a Smart Economy.”

Since it’s the first time the Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair is being conducted in a hybrid format, Muma stated that the organising Committee is excited to introduce the concept and set new trends in the exhibition industry in the country.

He said the virtual fair is a platform that helps organizations reach global audiences, and it speaks to current realities dictated by various factors including the ever-changing technological environment as well as to reach out to a wider regional and international market.

Applications for exhibitions are already opened, they can obtain the forms on the OATF website www.oatf.com.na. Exhibitors are encouraged to submit their applications before 30 May 2022.
