Africa-Press – Namibia. POPULAR Democratic Movement leader McHenry Venaani has allegedly received an official government vehicle, three weeks after he denied that a car meant for his use had been delivered at the parliament in Windhoek.
Quizzed by The Namibian whether he has received the vehicle, Venaani neither denied nor confirmed that he got the car.
“Am not interested in cowboy journalism really. Why would [you] expect me to answer after your sensational reporting,” Venaani said in a text message to The Namibian.
He sent another text message, saying: “You already said I have Merc, so how many stories do you run?”
Venaani travelled with the vehicle, a white Toyota double-cab pickup, to the official opening of the Opuwo Trade Fair in the Kunene region on Friday.
Sources within the PDM say Venaani received the official vehicle on Thursday last week.
President Hage Geingob during his state of the nation address three weeks ago said Venaani received “a black car” after he had asked for it.
“You were asking for a black car to look official. You didn’t want drivers from the government and we conceded you can choose your own driver and security,” Geingob said to Venaani.
However, responding to the president, Venaani said he had not received the vehicle.
