Africa-Press – Namibia. A group of disgruntled Swapo members and sympathisers in the Kavango East region on Tuesday staged a demonstration during which they demanded the suspension of the region’s governor, Bonifasius Wakudumo, and Swapo’s regional mobiliser in Kavango East, Otilie Shinduvi.
The protesters accused Wakudumo and Shinduvi of tribalism, nepotism, corruption, abuse of power and incompetence, and also of bringing disunity into the party.
The pair were also accused of advancing factionalism and slate politics in Swapo.
“We will not sit back and watch our party being degenerated and turned into a laughing stock for the benefit of two individuals whose allegiance to Swapo is clearly questionable,” said Marcelline Kahare, who read a petition addressed to Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa.
The petition was received by one of the Swapo leaders assigned to the Kavango east region, member of parliament John Hambyuka.
