Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Minister of Sports, Youth and National Service, Agnes Tjongarero, has relieved the entire board of the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC) of their duties with immediate effect.
The ministry said the immediate dismissal of the NSC board is on account of deliberate insubordination and ignoring of directives from the appointing authority and the Office of the Attorney General.
The ministry explained that this decision was made in terms of Provision 7(2)(b) of the Namibia Sports Act of 2003, which stipulates that a member vacates the office if the member fails to comply with the Act.
The board members in question include Joel Matheus, who was the chairperson, Erica Beukes, Alna Similo, Thomas Mbeeli, Karen Mubonenwa, Dr. Marius Johannes, Nicklaus Ngumono and Linda Chicalu.
