Africa-Press – Namibia. PRESIDENT Hage Geingob will be celebrating this year’s World Oceans Day at Walvis Bay.
Walvis Bay mayor Trevino Forbes confirmed this on Friday during a media briefing.
World Ocean Day is celebrated on 8 June globally.
A week-long programme is planned for this year, to inform the public of the impact of human actions on the ocean, and to mobilise for the sustainable management of the world’s oceans.
“The president will be the guest of honour. Leading up to this day, up until 11 June, there will be different activities including a school debate competition, career fair exhibitions related to the ocean, as well as a beach cleaning at all coastal towns,” said Forbes.
