Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Fifa Normalisation Committee for Namibia on Tuesday appointed Collin Benjamin to lead the Brave Warriors as head coach for the next five years. Benjamin will get a feel of the hot seat at the upcoming Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) Cup, while he must also steer the national team to qualify for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The former Brave Warriors captain is expected to announce his technical team soon, ahead of the Cosafa Cup where Namibia are drawn against Madagascar in the first quarter-final.
The regional competition will be staged in Durban, South Africa, from 5 to 17 July. Benjamin takes over from Bobby Samaria, who has been caretaker head coach since 2019.
Samaria oversaw the Brave Warriors’ limp start to their Afcon 2023 qualifiers campaign, dropping two points against Burundi. Benjamin says he is up to the “daunting task” and he would require “resources to accomplish the task ahead of him”.
