Africa-Press – Namibia. WINDHOEK-BASED lawyer Doris Hans-Kaumbi and long-time judge Collins Parker have been appointed as acting judges of the High Court, the Judicial Service Commission announced yesterday.

Hans-Kaumbi has been appointed as an acting judge with effect from yesterday until the end of August, the commission announced.

Parker’s appointment as an acting judge is for the period from 15 July until the end of March next year.

The president has also reappointed acting judges David Munsu and Duard Kesslau for the period from 16 July this year until the end of March next year, Judicial Service Commission secretary Sakeus Akweenda said in a statement.

Munsu and Kesslau have both been serving as acting judges at the Oshakati High Court since January this year.

Munsu was an acting judge at the Oshakati High Court during the first half of last year as well.

Hans-Kaumbi is in private practice with the law firm Ueitele and Hans Legal Practitioners.

She was admitted as a legal practitioner in 2003 after obtaining law degrees from the University of Namibia in 1999 and 2001.

Parker was first appointed as a judge of the High Court in 2006.

He continued to serve as an acting judge from 2012 until the end of last year.
