Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian Hockey Union (NHU) handed out Namibian Colors to the Under 18 (U18) Boys and Girls teams on Wednesday evening at the Windhoek High School (WHS) Hockey Grounds.
The two teams will be touring to South Africa to play three test matches against the U18 Springbok teams in Stellenbosch.
The last time Namibia’s senior sides took on their Southern African counterparts was at the 2022 African Cup of Nations in February in Accra, Ghana.
On that occasion, the Namibian women were humbled by South Africa with a 13-nil loss, while the men’s team also lost 6-0 to the South Africans.
The first match of the tour will take place on Sunday, 10 July, with the girls running out to their South African counterparts at 18:45, followed by the boys at 20:45.
Two tests will follow on Monday and Tuesday, which will surely challenge the teams’ stamina.
The NHU president, Reagon Graig, praised the athletes for the effort and sacrifice they put in to achieve this. Graig went on to officially hand over the colors to all the athletes.
All the matches will be streamed live on SuperSport Schools App.
