Namibia to host Africa youth tourism summit

Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism will host the fourth Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge in Windhoek next week.

According to the chief tourism officer in the directorate of tourism, Fillon !Gao!gaseb, the summit will take place from 26 to 29 July at the Safari Court Hotel and Conference Centre.

!Gao!gaseb says the summit is an exclusive platform for African youth and start-ups in the travel and tourism industry looking for funding.

“The summit will be held under the theme ‘Developing Youth and Innovative Entrepreneurship Solutions for Inclusive Tourism Recovery in Africa’,” !Gao!gaseb says.

He says it will give African youths the opportunity to get partnerships and mentorship opportunities to present their projects to the global marketplace.

“We are aiming for at least get 200 youths from Namibia, although at the moment only 130 have applied.

“We hope the number will increase in the coming days,” he says.

The summit will be attended by 400 young people across Africa.

!Gao!gaseb says local and international exhibitors in the travel and tourism sector will showcase their products and services during the summit.

Delegates will participate in a series of business engagements, action-learning case studies, training workshops, market access and education initiatives, he says.

“This will provide a unique platform to share and discuss innovative ideas, visions and proposals for start-ups and revenue maximisation,” he says.
