NAMIBIA has accepted the leadership role for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Organ on Politics, Defence and Security.
This was announced by the Namibian Presidency yesterday evening in a social media post.
“President Hage Geingob participated in the SADC Organ Troika Summit at the Palais du Peuple, Kinshasa, where following a lengthy meeting Namibia accepted to lead the Organ on Politics, Defence and Security,” the post said.
Geingob arrived earlier yesterday in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to participate in the SADC Organ Troika Summit.
Today, he is expected to participate in the 42nd Ordinary SADC Summit, that takes place under the theme ‘Promoting industrialisation through, agro-processing, mineral beneficiation, and regional value chains for inclusive and resilient economic growth’.
Geingob is expected to return to Namibia later today.
