THE SPYL congress that is currently underway at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region has overcome the disagreements that marred the first two days of the event and is now moving towards the conclusion.
Delegates started this morning with the finalization of congress reports to be followed by the election of the new leadership.
“The pace will determine the time we conclude the congress. If we move fast enough we would wrap up today,” said incumbent SPYL Secretary Ephraim Nekongo.
The congress almost fell off the rails immediately after it was officially opened by Party president Have Geingob.
It is alleged that the disagreements erupted when Nekongo refused to accept proposed amendments to the agenda that was adopted three months ago.
It was also alleged that the congress has not done the roll call which is required before the start of the meeting.
